Attached to a pallet, crate or consignment, it reports location or journey events to a cloud platform without requiring the shipper to recover, recharge and redeploy the tracker after delivery.

"GPS freight tracker" is a broad buying term. A device may combine Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning with cellular transmission, Wi-Fi-assisted positioning or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) networks.
